Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman Hatem ibn ‘Onwan al-Asamm (“the Deaf”), a native of Balkh, was a pupil of Shaqiq al-Balkhi. He visited Baghdad, and died at Washjard near Termedh in 237 (852).
